TOKYO, Aug 18 (Reuters) - Japan's Nikkei share average rose 0.2 percent on Tuesday, as Shanghai stocks held steady after tumbling the previous day and soothed worries about the outlook for risky assets. The Nikkei inched up 16.35 points to 10,284.96. On Monday the Nikkei slid 3.1 percent for its biggest one-day fall in five months, finishing at a two-week closing low of 10,268.61.
The broader Topix was virtually flat at 949.66.
