TOKYO, June 8 (Reuters) - Japan's Nikkei average hit its highest point in eight months on Monday, buoyed by exporters such as Toyota Motor on a weaker yen and optimism about a recovery for the U.S. economy after data showed it shed fewer jobs than expected in May.
The benchmark Nikkei opened up 0.6 percent or 61.27 points at 9,829.28, its highest level since Oct. 8. That followed a 2.6 percent gain made last week.
The broader Topix added 0.7 percent to 923.29. (Reporting by Aiko Hayashi)
