TOKYO, June 12 (Reuters) - Japan's Nikkei average hit its highest level in eight months on Friday, lifted by resource shares such as trading house Mitsubishi Corp after oil prices surged briefly to more than $73 a barrel the previous day.
The benchmark Nikkei rose 1.1 percent to 10,088.21, its highest point since October 7.
The broader Topix added 0.6 percent to 946.30. (Reporting by Aiko Hayashi)
