TOKYO, Sept 24 (Reuters) - Japan's Nikkei stock average edged up 0.3 percent on Thursday, its first day of trade this week, with Advantest Corp and other semiconductor-linked shares gaining to boost the average.
Japan Airlines Corp was untraded due to a glut of sell orders with the price indicated at 161 yen -- down 5.8 percent from Friday's close -- after two sources familiar with the matter said lenders may seek to split the company between its profitable and loss-making parts.
The benchmark Nikkei gained 29.14 points to 10,399.68, while the broader Topix rose 0.2 percent to 941.39. (Reporting by Elaine Lies)
