TOKYO, Sept 9 (Reuters) - Japan's Nikkei stock average edged down 0.4 percent on Wednesday, hurt by weakness in exporters and banking shares, while energy-linked shares rose following the previous day's surge in oil prices.
The Nikkei fell 42.92 points to 10,350.31. The broader Topix index fell 0.4 percent to 942.42. (Reporting by Masayuki Kitano)
