JERUSALEM, Aug 10 (Reuters) - Israel's largest mobile phone operator Cellcom said on Monday it had submitted a non-binding bid to buy fellow phone operator MIRS, which is owned by Motorola.
The company said in a statement to the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange it was not certain that the offer it submitted on Sunday would be accepted. It did not give a value for its offer.
The announcement comes less than a week after Israel's third-largest mobile phone operator, Pelephone, which is owned by Bezeq Israel Telecom, made a bid for MIRS.
In June, Israeli media reported that Shamrock Holdings, the investment arm of Walt Disney Co, was in talks to buy MIRS at a company value of $300 million. Cellcom said it estimated that MIRS, Israel's fourth largest mobile operator, had a market share of 4 to 5 percent. (Reporting by Joseph Nasr, Editing by Rupert Winchester)
