FRANKFURT, Oct 28 (Reuters) - German authorities are investigating Helmut Kiener, founder of the K1 hedge fund company, on suspicion of fraud and fiduciary breach of trust, a spokesman for prosecutors in Wuerzburg said on Wednesday.
The spokesman declined to give any more details.
A spokesman for German financial markets regulator Bafin declined to comment on the matter, referring all inquiries to prosecutors in the southern German city of Wuerzburg.
Bafin banned Kiener from financial portfolio management in Germany in 2001, Bafin said on Wednesday.
Kiener was not immediately available for comment. (Reporting by Edward Taylor and Patricia Uhlig; Editing by David Holmes)
