BUENOS AIRES (Reuters) - The head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Kristalina Georgieva congratulated Argentina's new President Alberto Fernandez on Tuesday and said the body shared his objectives of pursuing policies to cut poverty and spur growth.
"The IMF remains committed to assisting your government in this endeavor," Georgieva said in a post on Twitter. The Fund struck a $57 billion financing deal to support Argentina in 2018 under then President Mauricio Macri.
Fernandez was sworn in as president on Tuesday, marking a shift to the left for the Latin American nation.
