OTTAWA (Reuters) - The Canadian government will provide a C$99 million ($73.1 million) top-up to a housing benefit plan for low earners who need help paying rent, Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland said on Tuesday.
Freeland, speaking to reporters in Ottawa, also announced C$100 million in emergency winter funding to provide more shelter spaces for people experiencing homelessness.
