WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau said on Tuesday that it will propose rules to clarify how debt collectors can communicate with consumers through modern methods like text messaging, email and phone calls.
The proposal would provide much sought-after clarity on how debt collectors can contact consumers about money owed using modern communication methods, and how frequently they can contact them.
