(Reuters) -European planemaker Airbus will take over core activities at four Spirit Aerosystems plants as arch-rival Boeing (NYSE:BA) agrees to buy the world's largest standalone aerostructures company in a $4.7 billion stock deal.

The two main plants involved in the transfer are Kinston, North Carolina, where Spirit makes a crucial part of the A350 fuselage, and a plant in Northern Ireland that makes carbon wings for the A220, the company said on Monday.
