HONG KONG, Jan 31 (Reuters) - Hong Kong shares ended lower on Monday as unrest in Egypt prompted a paring of risky assets, in particular emerging market equities, but a rally in oil counters helped limit losses on the benchmark index.
The Hang Seng Index <.HSI> finished down 0.72 percent at 23,447.34. The index is up 1.8 percent on the month despite a 4 percent decline since January 19 on the back of worries that investors may have been too optimistic at the start of the year.
