Investing.com - A key gauge of U.S. consumer confidence was unexpectedly revised lower in May, according to a survey released on Friday.
The University of Michigan's consumer confidence index was revised down to 98.0 from 98.8.
Economists had forecast no change.
A sub index tracking consumer expectations fell from 89.5 to 89.1, beating forecasts for a decrease to 86.9.
A separate gauge tracking current conditions decreased from 113.3 to 111.8. Analysts had expected an advance to 115.0.
Meanwhile, inflation expectations for the next 12 months held steady at 2.8%, while the five-year gauge was unchanged at the previous 2.5%.
