Investing.com - Output in the UK manufacturing sector fell 0.2% in February, according to figures published on Wednesday by the Office for National Statistics.
The consensus expectation had been for growth of 0.2%.
On an annualized basis, manufacturing production rose 2.5% in February.
That compared to the forecast for a gain of 3.3%.
In January, manufacturing production rose 2.2% from the year before, revised down from an initial gain of 2.7%.
Industrial production rose 0.1% in February, compared with the previous month, below the consensus forecast of 0.4%.
Year-on-year, industrial production rose 2.2% in February.
Analysts were looking for a 2.9% advance.
The reading came after a 1.2% rise in January that was revised down from initial growth of 1.6%.
