Investing.com - The UK economy expanded more than expected in the third quarter, boosting confidence in the strength of the economy, official data confirmed on Wednesday.
In its final reading, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said gross domestic product expanded by a seasonally adjusted 0.4% in the three months ending September 30, in line with first estimates.
Year-over-year, UK economic growth expanded 1.7% in the third quarter, revised up from the prior reading of 1.5%. Last quarter’s growth was revised up to 1.9% from 1.5%.
Immediately following the report, GBP/USD was unchanged at 1.3380, EUR/GBP was at 0.8862 compared to 0.8861 and GBP/JPY changed hands at 151.66, compared to the prior 151.67.
