Investing.com – Consumer sentiment in the U.S. fell to its lowest level in 13-months, preliminary data showed on Friday.
In a report, the University of Michigan's said its preliminary index of overall consumer sentiment fell to 66.6 in September, after falling to 68.9 in August.
Analysts had expected the index to rise to 70.0 in September.
Commenting on the report, survey director Richard Curtin said "Confidence edged downward in early September, as consumers judged prospects for the national economy less favorably."
The index of inflation expectations fell to its lowest level in a year, dropping to 2.2 in September, from 2.7 in August.
