The number of Americans filing for unemployment benefits fell more than expected last week.
Initial jobless claims fell by 9,000 to 267,000 from the previous week’s total of 276,000, the Labor Department said.
Economists had expected claims to fall by 6,000 to 270,000.
Claims have now remained below the 300,000 mark, which is associated with strong labor market conditions, for 57 weeks.
