Investing.com - The number of Americans filing for unemployment benefits fell much more than expected in the past week.
Initial jobless claims were down 19,000 from the previous week at a 43-year low of 235,0000, the Labor Department said.
The previous week's figure was confirmed at 254,000.
Economists had expected jobless claims to rise to 257,000.
The figures point to sustained strength in the labor market.
