Investing.com – U.S. non-farm private employment rose more-than-expected in September, industry data showed on Wednesday.
In a report, payroll processing firm ADP said non-farm private employment rose by a seasonally adjusted 91K in September, beating expectations for an increase of 70K.
The previous month’s figure was revised down to a gain of 89K from a previously reported increase of 91K.
The report said employment in the service-providing sector rose by 90K in September, marking 21 consecutive months of employment gains.
Employment in the goods-producing sector rose by 1K, while manufacturing employment declined by 5K.
Employment in the financial services sector remained essentially unchanged in September.
Following the release, the U.S. dollar was fractionally higher against the euro, with EUR/USD slipping 0.04% to trade 1.3345.
Meanwhile, U.S. stock index futures added to gains after the release of the data. The Dow Jones Industrial Average futures indicated a rise of 0.2%, S&P 500 futures pointed to an increase of 0.35%, while the Nasdaq 100 futures added 0.15%.
