Investing.com – The unemployment rate in Switzerland held steady in line with market expectations in January, official data showed on Wednesday.
In a report, the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs said the rate of unemployment was unchanged at a seasonally adjusted 3.1% in January, matching market expectations.
On an unadjusted basis, the unemployment rate came in at 3.4% in January, up from 3.3% in December.
According to the report, the total number of unemployed people in Switzerland rose by 1,711 in January to 187,417.
Following the data, the Swiss franc was lower against the U.S. dollar, with USD/CHF easing up 0.16% to hit 0.9133.
