Investing.com – Retail sales in Switzerland rose less-than-expected in December, official data showed on Wednesday.
In a report, Switzerland’s Federal Statistical Office said that retail sales rose at annualized rate of 0.6% in December, significantly below expectations for a 1.6% increase.
Retail sales rose by an unrevised 1.8% in November.
Month-over-month, Swiss retail sales fell 2.9% in December, after rising 0.3% in the preceding month.
Following the release of the data, the Swiss franc remained lower against the U.S. dollar, with USD/CHF rising 0.19% to trade at 0.9220.
