Investing.com - Business conditions in New York rose in October, hinting at a strengthening U.S. economy, according to data released on Monday.
The Empire State Manufacturing Index rose to a three-year high of 30.20 in October, beating analyst expectations of 20.70. In comparison, the index was at 20.40 in September.
The index rates general business conditions in New York. A level above 0.0 indicates improving conditions, below indicates worsening conditions.
After the release of the data, EUR/USD was trading at 1.1799 compared to 1.1805 prior. GBP/USD was at 1.3259 compared to 1.3293 before the data and USD/JPY was trading at 111.86 compared to 111.82 previously.
The U.S. dollar index, which compares the greenback against a basket of six major currencies, was at 93.10 compared to 93.03 before the release of the data.
