Investing.com - Germany's unemployment rate was unchanged in January, official data showed on Thursday.
In a report, Germany's Federal Labor Office said its jobless rate held steady at a seasonally adjusted 5.0% in January.
The reading was in line with expectations.
The number of unemployed people fell by less than expected, however. In seasonally adjusted terms, the number of new claimants fell 2,000 in January from a month earlier, compared to forecasts for a drop of 11,000.
Jobless claims fell by 14,000 in December.
Despite the usual seasonal uptick in unadjusted jobless numbers, the labor market in Europe's largest economy remains tight, with both employment levels and the number of unfilled jobs continuing to rise, the Federal Labor Office said.
