NEW YORK, July 6 (Reuters) - The Dow industrials and the S&P 500 stock indexes briefly pared losses on Monday after U.S. data showed activity in the services sector contracted less than expected in June.
The Dow Jones industrial average dropped 24.03 points, or 0.29 percent, to 8,256.71. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index shed 3.10 points, or 0.35 percent, to 893.32. The Nasdaq Composite Index fell 12.12 points, or 0.67 percent, to 1,784.40.
