Investing.com - Switzerland's consumer climate indicator improved more-than-expected in the January-to-April period, boosted by optimistic expectations on the part of households regarding overall economic and unemployment developments.
In a report, the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs said its index of Swiss consumer climate rose improved by 11 points to minus 8 in the January-to-April period from a reading of minus 19 in the preceding four months.
Analysts had expected the consumer climate index to improve by 4 points to minus 15.
The key factors in this further improvement were optimistic expectations on the part of households regarding overall economic and unemployment developments.
Consumer expectations regarding the development of the overall economic situation reached -2 points in April, compared with -29 in January.
Following the data, the Swiss franc was largely unchanged against the U.S. dollar, with USD/CHF easing up 0.05% to trade at 0.9403.
