Investing.com – The Governing Council of the European Central Bank decided to keep its benchmark interest rate unchanged in September, it announced on Thursday.
In a statement, the ECB said it was keeping its benchmark interest rate unchanged at 1.0% in September, in line with expectations.
Later in the day, the President of the ECB, Jean-Claude Trichet was to comment on the considerations underlying the decision at a press conference.
Following the decision, the euro was up against the U.S. dollar, with EUR/USD gaining 0.11% to hit 1.2824.
