Investing.com - Investor confidence in the euro zone for February rose to the highest level since April 2011, fuelling optimism over the outlook for the region’s economy, data showed on Monday.
In a report, market research group, Sentix said its index of investor confidence improved to 13.3 this month from a reading of 11.9 in January. Analysts had expected the index to decline to 10.7 in February.
On the index, a level above 0.0 indicates optimism, below indicates pessimism.
Following the release of the data, the euro held on to modest gains against the U.S. dollar, with EUR/USD easing up 0.02% to trade at 1.3637.
Meanwhile, European stock markets remained higher. The EURO STOXX 50 inched up 0.15%, France’s CAC 40 added 0.3%, Germany's DAX tacked on 0.3%, while London’s FTSE 100 rose 0.2%.
