Investing.com – Canadian wholesale sales rose more-than-expected in July, official data showed on Tuesday.
In a report, Statistics Canada said wholesale sales rose by 0.8% in July, doubling expectations for a 0.4% gain.
June’s figure was revised down to a flat reading from a previously reported 0.2% increase.
Canadian wholesale sales totaled CAD48.2 billion in July.
Following the release of the data, the Canadian dollar was down against its U.S. counterpart, with USD/CAD edging 0.14% to trade at 0.9922.
