Investing.com - Foreign investors’ acquisitions of Canadian securities increased less-than-expected in October, official data showed on Monday.
In a report, Statistics Canada said that foreign investment increased by a seasonally adjusted CAD4.41 billion in October, compared to expectations for purchases of CAD9.24 billion.
Foreign investors bought CAD8.29 billion worth of Canadian securities in September.
Meanwhile, Canadian holdings of foreign securities edged down CAD95 million in October, as investors reduced their exposure to foreign equities but purchased foreign debt securities.
Following the release of the data, the Canadian dollar remained higher against its U.S. counterpart, with USD/CAD shedding 0.05% to trade at 1.0588.
