Investing.com - The number of new building permits issued in Canada rose less than expected in October, underlining concerns over the health of the country’s real estate sector, official data showed on Monday.
In a report, Statistic Canada said the number of new building permits issued rose by a seasonally adjusted 0.7% in October, trailing forecasts for a gain of 2.1%.
New building permits issued in September was revised to a gain of 12.5% from a previously reported increase of 12.7%.
The increase came mainly from higher construction intentions in British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan.
USD/CAD was trading at 1.1436 following the release of the data from around 1.1437 before.
