Investing.com - The number of new building permits issued in Canada fell much less than expected in July, official data showed on Wednesday.
In a report, Statistic Canada said the number of new building permits issued declined by a seasonally adjusted 0.6% in July, better than forecasts for a fall of 5.0%.
New building permits issued in June was revised up to a gain of 15.5% from a previously reported increase of 14.8%.
Lower construction intentions in the non-residential sector, mainly in Ontario and Alberta, accounted for much of the decrease at the national level.
USD/CAD was trading at 1.3247 following the release of the data from around 1.3254 before.
