Investing.com - Canada's trade deficit widened unexpectedly in March, as imports rose 2.2% and exports grew 0.4%, official data showed on Tuesday.
In a report, Statistics Canada said that Canada’s trade deficit was C$3.02 billion in March, compared to a deficit of C$2.22 billion in February, whose figure was revised from a previously reported deficit of C$0.98 billion.
Analysts had expected Canada to post a trade deficit of C$0.85 billion in March.
Canada's merchandise exports edged up 0.4% to C$42.50 billion and imports increased 2.2% to C$45.52 billion in March.
USD/CAD was trading at 1.2060 from around 1.2074 ahead of the release of the data.
