Investing.com - Canada’s trade deficit narrowed more-than-expected in September, official data showed on Thursday.
In a report, Statistics Canada said that Canada’ trade deficit was CAD0.44 billion in September, narrowing from a deficit of CAD1.09 billion in August, whose figure was revised from a previously reported deficit of CAD1.31 billion.
Analysts had expected Canada’s trade deficit to narrow to CAD1.0 billion in September.
Canada's merchandise exports grew 1.8% to CAD40.65 billion, while imports increased 0.2% in September to CAD41.08 billion.
Following the release of the data, the Canadian dollar remained lower against its U.S. counterpart, with USD/CAD adding 0.39% to trade at 1.0498.
