Investing.com - Canada's trade deficit narrowed less than expected in April, as imports declined 2.5% and exports fell 0.7%, official data showed on Wednesday.
In a report, Statistics Canada said that Canada’s trade deficit was C$2.97 billion in April, compared to a deficit of C$3.85 billion in March, whose figure was revised from a previously reported deficit of C$3.02 billion. Analysts had expected Canada to post a trade deficit of C$2.1 billion in April.
Canada's merchandise exports edged down 0.7% to C$41.91 billion and imports decreased 2.5% to C$44.89 billion in April.
USD/CAD was trading at 1.2491 from around 1.2450 ahead of the release of the data.
