Investing.com - Canadian manufacturing sales rose more-than-expected in July, official data showed on Tuesday.
In a report, Statistics Canada said that manufacturing sales increased by a seasonally adjusted 1.7% in July, more than expectations for a 1% increase.
Manufacturing sales for June were revised to a 0.1% decline from a previously reported drop of 0.5%.
Sales were up in 15 of 21 industries, indicating that the gain was relatively widespread across the sector.
Sales of durable goods were up 2.1% while non-durable goods sales edged up 1.2%.
Following the release of the data, the Canadian dollar remained higher against its U.S. counterpart, with USD/CAD shedding 0.16% to hit 1.0307.
