Investing.com - Canadian manufacturing sales declined for the first time in two months in August, official data showed on Wednesday.
In a report, Statistics Canada said that manufacturing sales declined by a seasonally adjusted 0.2% in August, disappointing expectations for a 0.3% increase. Manufacturing sales for July rose by 1.7%.
Sales were down in 11 of 21 industries, representing just over 40% of manufacturing sales.
Non-durable goods sales declined 0.7% to CAD24.6 billion while durable goods sales rose 0.4% to CAD24.9 billion.
Following the release of the data, the Canadian dollar remained higher against its U.S. counterpart, with USD/CAD shedding 0.11% to hit 1.0368.
