Investing.com - Retail sales in Australia rose in line with market expectations in January, official data showed on Wednesday.
In a report, the Australian Bureau of Statistics said that Australian retail sales rose by a seasonally adjusted 0.3% in January, broadly in line with market expectations.
Retail sales for December declined by an unrevised 0.1%.
Year-over-year, Australian retail sales rose at an annualized rate of 2.7% in January, after climbing at a rate of 3.0% in the previous month.
Following the release of the data, the Australian dollar was up against its U.S. counterpart, with AUD/USD climbing 0.38% to trade at 1.0809.
