Investing.com – The number of Australian new home loan approvals rose more-than-expected in September, official data showed on Wednesday.
In a report, the Australian Bureau of Statistics said the number of home loans granted rose by a seasonally adjusted 2.2% in September, beating expectations for a 1.5% gain.
Australian home loans rose by an unrevised 1.2% in August.
Following the release of the data, the Australian dollar was down against its U.S. counterpart, with AUD/USD shedding 0.52% to hit 1.0335.
