Investing.com – The number of Australian new home loan approvals rose unexpectedly in November, official data showed on Wednesday.
In a report the Australian Bureau of Statistics said the number of home loans granted rose by a seasonally adjusted 2.5% in November, after rising by 2.2% in October, whose figure was revised up from 1.9%.
Analysts had expected the number of home loans granted to fall by 1.0% in November.
The report said that the total value of loans rose by 0.6% in November, increasing to AUD 20.7 billion, compared to AUD 20.5 billion in October.

Following the release of the data, the Australian dollar was up against its U.S. counterpart, with AUD/USD gaining 0.26% to hit 0.9896.
