TOKYO, Aug 3 (Reuters) - Japan's Nikkei average opened flat on Monday, with investors cautious ahead of more corporate earnings reports and after Wall Street showed only a small rise following data showing the U.S. economy contracted less than expected.
The benchmark Nikkei fell 1.6 points to 10,355.23. It rose 1.9 percent on Friday to end at its highest level in 10 months.
The broader Topix rose 0.3 percent to 953.53.
Shares of Asahi Breweries fell more than 1 percent after the beer maker cut this year's profit forecast after its domestic beer sales fell short of its expectations. (Reporting by Aiko Hayashi)
