Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Retail and Industrials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite added 0.21% to hit a new 52-week high.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Revoil Petrol (AT:REVr), which rose 11.11% or 0.040 points to trade at 0.400 at the close. Meanwhile, National Bank of Greece (AT:NBGr) added 8.00% or 0.02 points to end at 0.27 and Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr) was up 3.01% or 0.020 points to 0.684 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Athens Medical (AT:AMCr), which fell 4.61% or 0.029 points to trade at 0.600 at the close. Techn Olympic (AT:OLYr) declined 3.85% or 0.040 points to end at 1.000 and Attica Bank SA (AT:BOAr) was down 2.38% or 0.001 points to 0.041.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 58 to 40 and 15 ended unchanged.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.51% or 6.00 to $1179.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 2.48% or 1.26 to hit $52.08 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 2.54% or 1.36 to trade at $55.00 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.90% to 1.0461, while EUR/GBP fell 0.01% to 0.8667.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.83% at 102.86.
