Investing.com – Investor confidence in the euro zone fell more-than-expected in April, industry data showed on Monday.
In a report, market research group, Sentix said its index of investor confidence declined to 14.2 in April, after climbing to 17.1 in March.
Analysts had expected the index to fall to 16.1 in April.
On the index, a level above 0.0 indicates optimism, below indicates pessimism.
Following the release of the data, the euro was down against the U.S. dollar, with EUR/USD shedding 0.16% to hit 1.4211.
Meanwhile, European stock markets were higher. The FTSE 100 added 0.13%, the EURO STOXX 50 climbed 0.1%, France’s CAC 40 eased up 0.05%, while Germany's DAX rose 0.19%.
