El pasado 7 de octubre, Vitalik Buterin, fundador de Ethereum, publicó en la red social X (antes conocida como Twitter) una propuesta llamada "Cambios en el protocolo y en los pools de staking que podrían mejorar la descentralización y reducir la sobrecarga del consenso".
Su publicación recibió varias burlas y críticas desde la comunidad de Cardano, acusándolo incluso hasta de "copión" ("copycat"). El mismo Charles Hoskinson, quien fuera compañero de Buterin durante la creación de Ethereum, publicó al respecto:
