Trade.io, a startup that plans to develop a blockchain-based cryptocurrency exchange, announced that it would launch its product on July 17, 2018. CEO Jim Preissler came with more details during his speech at the Bloomberg event called “The Future of Cryptocurrencies” in London, UK, which was sponsored including by Trade.io. During the first month after the launch, new users will be able to trade for free. Pre-registration is already available via the platform’s site.
Preissler commented on the upcoming event:
“We are thrilled to announce the launch of our trade.io Exchange. The community has been eagerly waiting, so it gives me great pleasure to announce that we will finally launch on 17th July. It will be a staggered launch to 1,000 people initially, with future clients to be on-boarded in the days to follow.”
“Following the BETA version of our Exchange where select members tested the platform, we are confident that we will satisfy the specifications stipulated to us by our community, and look forward to sharing in the successes of our upcoming official Exchange,” he added.
Besides the Bloomberg Event on Friday, trade.io also conducted a guerilla coffee campaign, which was held at the Canary Wharf station in London. At the event, trade.io offered 13,000 free coffees in branded cups at the station and in 20 other coffee shops.
Trade.io conducted its initial coin offering (ICO) from December 2017 to January 2018, and raised about $31 million. During the ICO, the platform operator sold over 65 million TIO tokens, with the current circulating supply almost touching 90 million tokens, according to Coinmarketcap data. Currently, the token price is $0.363, with the coin fluctuating in a narrow range in the last few weeks. TIO peaked at $1.72 shortly after being launched at several crypto exchanges, including Kucoin, HitBTC, Gate.io, OKEx, and BitForex.
Last year, we reported that Chinese-American billionaire Chien had joined Trade.io’s Board of Directors.
