Dubai-based telecom operator du and Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (EITC) announced they will venture into the metaverse in an attempt to enhance their network capabilities.
The Chief Technology Officer Saleem AlBlooshi said that the company is working on a “strong program” to construct digital twins of its data centers and infrastructure to boost operational efficiency, decrease costs and improve quality.
AlBlooshi further added:
The metaverse is unavoidable. As a direct result of this, using the internet will result in a higher level of emotional engagement. We consider the metaverse to be a game changer in the next phase, and its anticipation drives network bandwidth.
Moreover, the telecom provider said that in order to ensure that the whole infrastructure is managed in a way that is responsive to the changing needs of the customers who are more attached to the network, they must ensure that the criteria are adjusted accordingly.
AlBlooshi believes, through interactive means, companies can streamline operations using the metaverse. A digital replica of an industry’s infrastructure can be presented to workers using augmented reality headsets and software related to it.
According to the statement given by AlBlooshi:
Networks that will deal with the metaverse must have a huge capacity, computing power, and low latency to be able to accommodate the components of the metaverse, particularly blockchain networks and connected devices that are expected to explode in the coming years.
Earlier last week, Qualcomm and Telefonica announced their collaboration to leverage Extended Reality (XR) and Metaverse. The collaboration would likely open new opportunities for both companies and give Telefonica the chance to offer new experiences to customers by merging the digital and analog worlds and in addition support Qualcomm’s developers to unlock the full potential of AR on Snapdragon Spaces.
