Einem Bericht von The Block zufolge will die Politik in Taiwan bis Ende November 2023 einen ersten Entwurf für ein Sondergesetz im Zusammenhang mit der Kryptobranche vorlegen.
Der taiwanesische Abgeordnete Yung-Chang Chiang erklärte in einem Interview, dass er beabsichtigt, den ersten entsprechenden Entwurf bis Ende November oder früher zur Lesung im Parlament vorzulegen, und dass ein solches Gesetz „notwendig“ ist, um Krypto-Unternehmen zu regulieren.
Dies geschieht vor dem Hintergrund, dass die Politik in Taiwan wachsende Bedenken über die Aktivitäten auf den Offshore-Märkten haben und versuchen, „regulatorische Arbitrage“ zu vermeiden. Chiang betont, dass sich Krypto-Assets grundlegend von traditionellen Finanzprodukten unterscheiden und deshalb durch ein spezielles Gesetz geregelt werden müssen.
