Taking particular likeness to non-fungible tokens NFT and the metaverse, Samsung (KS:005930) has announced a partnership with Nifty Gateway, a crypto platform owned by Gemini, to develop the first-ever smart TV NFT platform.
Samsung to Launch the World’s First NFT Compatible TVs
In January, Samsung first teased the concept of its NFT televisions before debuting its annual flagship smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S22, in the metaverse in February.
On March 30, Samsung Electronics (OTC:SSNLF) revealed that its collaboration with Nifty Gateway will incorporate an NFT marketplace into its 2022 line of smart QLED and Neo QLED premium TVs.
The collaboration will see Nifty Gateway develop a stand-alone app that will allow users to browse and purchase non-fungible tokens on their Samsung TVs.
Users will be able to buy, sell and hold NFTs directly from their Samsung TV. In addition, the platform will allow users to purchase their favorite digital art with debit cards and crypto.
According to the announcement, users will be able to access over 6,000 pieces of digital art and collectibles from artists like Daniel Arsham, Pak, and more.
Nifty Gateway will also verify every NFT minted through the platform to ensure users get quality content. If they desire, collectors can also store their digital arts on the Nifty Gateway Omnibus Wallet.
