  • Unilever (NYSE:UL) launches Real Virtual Beauty campaign in the metaverse.
  • The campaign is aimed at shattering stereotypes and boosting self-esteem.
  • Vice President of Dove wants to make a real impact on the millions of female gamers.

Unilever-owned Dove is launching its “Real Virtual Beauty” campaign in the Metaverse. The campaign will be kicked off with Real beauty in Games Training, a course developed in partnership with the Centre for Appearance Research and industry experts.

An NFT Marketing Services & Consulting, NFT Marketing Partners, took to Twitter to announce the launch of the campaign:

Moreover, “The Real Virtual Beauty” campaign is a series of actions that will help shatter the beauty stereotypes and arm the next generation of players and creators with the tools they need to build self-esteem and body confidence.

Notably, the Real beauty in Games Training course, which is one of the actions, will serve the ulterior purpose of the campaign by helping creators reflect the diversity in life and not contribute to prejudices and stereotypes.

While explaining his take on this campaign, the Vice President of Dove Global, Leandro Barreto, said:

As part of Dove’s social mission of self-confidence and self-esteem, we are taking steps to tackle negative stereotypes in the rapidly growing gaming industry.

As per global cosmetics news, this campaign was launched, citing female players’ participation in the gaming industry. It is reported that about 1.3 billion women and girls make up half of the global games community, with 60 percent playing video games before the age of 13.

As per the sources, the significant representation of females in the gaming industry is negatively impacted as a result of the persistent narrow beauty standards of the Lara Croft era.

Moreover, Barreto said that they hope to make a real impact on the millions of women and girls who are spending their free time playing games through their work with Epic Games’ Unreal Engine education team, Women in Games, and alongside the launch of SuperU Story on Roblox.
