La plataforma Denaria, a través de una carta a Ursula Von der Leyen, presidenta de la Comisión Europea (CE), ha solicitado una mayor protección al euro físico frente a la moneda digital por considerar que las propuestas legislativas del Ejecutivo comunitario una “discriminación al dinero en efectivo”.
De acuerdo con un comunicado emitido por la misma plataforma, se explicó que la carta del presidente de la plataforma se articuló alrededor de seis argumentos en los que recordó la importancia del dinero físico para cualquier sistema económico. Asimismo, calificó que las excepciones incluidas en la propuesta de la CE “pueden llegar a dejar sin efecto la obligatoriedad de aceptación perseguida” del dinero físico como medio de pago.
“Consideramos muy preocupante el punto de partida de la Comisión Europea al afirmar que el euro físico no es suficiente en una economía digitalizada y que esto afecta a su funcionalidad como ancla monetaria del dinero de los bancos comerciales”, señalaron.
