OnlyFans has launched a feature that allows users to display verified NFTs as profile pictures.
The popular online adult content subscription platform confirmed the introduction of the feature back in December. It has now joined other social media companies like Twitter (NYSE:TWTR), YouTube, and Reddit that are exploring ways to incorporate digital assets on their platforms.
Speaking in an interview with Reuters, OnlyFans CEO Ami Gan said:
Our mission is to empower creators to own their full potential. This feature is the first step in exploring the role that NFTs can play on our platform. For now, the platform will only support Ethereum-based NFTs, marked by an Ethereum icon on the NFT profile picture. The information about the digital collectible from OpenSea will be displayed to any user that clicks on the NFT profile picture.
I will be leading an exceptionally talented team at OnlyFans that is delivering a unique experience for our creators and fans. By blending state-of-the-art technology with creative capital, we are committed to being the safest social media platform in the world.OnlyFans, which was launched in 2016, presents a popular way for content creators to make money from their content by selling it to subscribers.
